You can choose to use exorcism in one of two ways (chosen at the time of casting): to end a mind control effect or to expel a possessing entity.
End a mind control effect: Exorcism can be used to immediately end any spell or effect that possesses or exercises mental control over the subject (i.e. any spell that would be prevented by protection from evil). If the original DC of the effect is less than 10 + ½ your caster level + the ability modifier of your primary casting stat, the effect is ended. If the spell is not automatically ended in this way, the subject receives a new saving throw against the effect using either your save bonus or theirs (whichever is better) with a +4 morale bonus to the roll.
Expel a possessing entity: Exorcism can be used to drive a possessing entity out of a host body. When exorcism is used in this way, the possessing entity must make a successful will save or be immediately and forcibly expelled from its current host. The possessing entity may not attempt to possess the subject again for 24 hours, but is not prevented from attempting to possess a different host. You can improve the spell’s chance of success by presenting at least one object or substance that the target hates, fears, or otherwise opposes. For each such object or substance, you gain a +1 bonus on your caster level check to overcome the target’s spell resistance (if any), and the saving throw DC increases by 2. Certain rare items might work twice as well as a normal item for the purpose of the bonuses (each providing a +2 bonus on the caster level check against spell resistance and increasing the save DC by 4).

Material component: The arcane version of this spell requires a specially prepared bundle of rare herbs and incense worth 100 gp that is burned during the casting of the spell
